And This happened...
"Stand ALONE"
Of course you are. Because it's nasty wet cold blowing weather, and that makes great oceanscapes.
Matt was out in it for two days to get this shot. Exposure time was 3.5 minutes (think about that in terms of what happens when your hand shakes in the 1/60th of a second that it takes your camera to get the shot).
This is what gives "Stand Alone" that beautiful soft alive look... Tilly and her rock held their spot on the planet, while ocean and fog and light moved around them.

For more information on the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse and why she has been nicknamed, "Terrible Tilly", see the great article on our friends at Travel Oregon's website. I've lived here the entirety of my life and somehow missed this amazing story... I am always in awe of how remarkable things were built before (1878) we had all the tools we have now. So thanks, Matt. "The Mystery Of Terrible Tilly" | "Stand Alone" is fulfilled in full glory, in a large-format metal print. See it for the first time outside of Troutdale Art Center as Matt starts the show year off at the Convention Center January 4-6, 2019. Just don't frame it until you get Matt's signature :). |
