And This happened...

"Stand ALONE"

"Terribly Tilly" sits 1.2 miles off the north coast of Oregon.  She endures the wrath of wind, wave and weather, and she is much tougher than me.   - Matt Eaton

When I texted Matt on December 16th to see if he was near to come meet a client who was buying his beautiful (big!) Cannon Beach oceanscape for his wife for Christmas, I got back, "At the coast shooting waves".

Of course you are.  Because it's nasty wet cold blowing weather, and that makes great oceanscapes.

Matt was out in it for two days to get this shot.  Exposure time was 3.5 minutes (think about that in terms of what happens when your hand shakes in the 1/60th of a second that it takes your camera to get the shot).

This is what gives "Stand Alone" that beautiful soft alive look... Tilly and her rock held their spot on the planet, while ocean and fog and light moved around them.

This is a color photograph, grayscale courtesy of Mother Nature.

The Story Of Terrible Tilly
For more information on the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse and why she has been nicknamed, "Terrible Tilly", see the great article on our friends at Travel Oregon's website.

I've lived here the entirety of my life and somehow missed this amazing story... I am always in awe of how remarkable things were built before (1878) we had all the tools we have now.  So thanks, Matt.

"The Mystery Of Terrible Tilly"
"Stand Alone" In Your Home
"Stand Alone" is fulfilled in full glory,  in a large-format metal print.  See it for the first time outside of Troutdale Art Center as Matt starts the show year off at the Convention Center January 4-6, 2019.

If you are hopelessly out of area, you can purchase "Stand Alone" on Matt's Roadshow Photography site .
Just don't frame it until you get Matt's signature :).

3) "Jingle Ball Necklaces" - Martha Denham
Congratulations,
Crystal H, Denise G, Ron T.!

"These necklaces are reminiscent of the "Harmony Bell" popular in the nineties. The Harmony Bell was a metal ball with a jingle bell inside. When shaken it gave off a "double jingle sound in a minor key". It was a strange, yet intriguing sound. My jingle-ball is pine needle coil woven into a ball. Inside is a jingle bell. Not quite the sound of a Harmony Bell. But hopefully as interesting. Using this bell for a necklace I added wood/metal/stone beads and bells. This is maybe the only application of "pine needle coil weaving" in jewelry. Maybe" - MD
