Nadi Fly Rods
I recently built me a new custom Nadi Fly Rod I have named the “Cheech.” (It’s my golfing nickname: short for Chi Chi.)
I haven’t built myself a custom rod since shortly after I started Nadi Fly Rods in 2011. I figured it was about time to build me one I could use on streams and reservoirs. (I usually experiment with rods, rebuilding them, and field-testing demo retail rods so I’m often using different rods when I fish.)
I used it for the first time yesterday fishing at Jordanelle Reservoir for smallmouth bass. It’s a gorgeous rod and it performed flawlessly casting and handling up to 12 inch, hard fighting smallies. It’s built on the MHX 8 1/2 ft 4 weight, 4 piece, extra fast action, slate color fly blank. (I must admit a mistake on the rod decal: I typed 5 weight, not the correct 4 weight. At least I made the mistake on my rod, right?)
The reel seat is the Batson Forecast I-Series reel seat.
The grip is the Winn half-wells advanced polymer natural fly grip.
The single-foot guides and tip-top are Batson Forecast black standard hard chrome.
The stripping guide is is Fuji black hard chrome.
Total weight: 3.3 oz
Swing weight: 7.1 oz
It’s a no-nonsense fly rod, beautifully built, of course, but mostly I wanted a multi-talented, high-performance rod.
And I got it!
If you want one like this, let me know. I’ll build you one just like it, but personalized with your nickname of choice.

NADI Fly Rods, LLC is a small, independent fly rod building company that I, Randy Rodriguez, established in Springville, Utah in May 2011 with the idea to build fly rods one by one with a custom, professional attention to the highest level of aesthetic and performance detail.
Really good news (the actual truth): I have relocated to the western United States where my fly fishing experience and love of the outdoors is and always has been. It is a challenge, but I am very excited and motivated to make a full-time commitment to the endeavor.
So bear with me as I make the transition back to doing what I love. It will be worth the wait, I guarantee it.
Thank you!
